PEZ is an Austrian candy brand for the first time 1927 as a peppermint candy from the doctor Eduard Haas from the Muhlviertel (Upper Austria) produced and sold.The name originates from the first, middle and last letter of the word "P feff e rmin z". 1950, the PEZ-Box, a donor with Knips output mechanism of plastic in the shape of a lighter, invented, and with this the worldwide commercial success. 
Since 1952, the boxes in the U.S. and Japan, a sales hit. In order to increase the attractiveness, on the boxes Pez heads of the Disney characters set up. The various characters are PEZ has become collector's item. Since 2005, Haas Austria Ges.mbH worldwide licenses for all new Disney movie characters. 
About half of all produced 4.2 billion PEZ-Sweets (2005) are in the United States consumed. Production facilities for the sweets are the Upper Traun and the U.S. orange. The approximately 80 million (2005) produced PEZ boxes in Hungary and China manufactured.
